Thanks, Ryan. Yes, Kate's sporrans are fairly roomy, but since the majority of her sporrans are bespoke, the commissioner may decide to have a larger 'pouch' than usual. The options are truly unlimited with Kate and she has a keen eye for detail.
Cheers,

I actually like them for that reason. A lot of the sporrans I have seen pictured on this thread have looked way too furry in my opinion.

Me too, Matt. Kate has told me that the full-mask sporrans of the 19th-century are her main inspiration for her own style and design, and when you look at the full-mask sporrans from that century, they are definitely not huge 'furballs!'

Ah yes- The bespoke angle is one I overlooked, and I suppose I now know just how bespoke they are!
But yes, it's not that I need a huge storage capacity (I know some guys like a veritable overnight bag, and though my most recent sporran is rather large, it's that way more for style than function), but rather just that my hand has to fit into any given sporran well enough to reach the bottom.

Agreed. Too much fluff and too much taxidermy are my main issues with most full mask sporrans out there.

So if you've followed this thread all the way to this point, then here's what I ended up with:

It's a Craigie, but of a smaller size than the norm for Craigie sporrans. It's about the same size as other sporrans. Here it is next to my prized Artificer #11 skunk for comparison:

It's perhaps a bit "fluffier" than one of Kate MacPherson's, but part of that is due to the difference in the fur of the American badger vs. that of its European cousin, but the fur is only on the front and flap of the sporran, as opposed to having a fur gusset (as it seems to be on in the case of the L&M Highland sporran), or entirely fur covered (as in the case of the Clan Leatherworks sporrans).
The taxidermy is very good, and I feel like it was a good value for the $300 I paid on ebay.
Thanks all for your input!
SM
