Not Celtic (although I am partial to Silly Wizard), but in the last month or so I have gotten hooked on stuff by Eva Cassidy, a great singer who did mostly covers of other folks stuff, great covers, as well as a little of her own stuff, and some collaborations. Unfortunately she died of melanoma in 1996, right before her first solo album was published. She started getting lots of play posthumously and now has 11 albums out there, all stuff she recorded but was ignored by the music industry during her life, including great covers of "Over the Rainbow" and Sting's "Fields of Gold". Check out albums Songbird and Live at Blues Alley for great starters. You can hear some of her stuff on Wikipedia too. I have her Pandora channel bookmarked for regular play.

On the computer right now . Listening to Rufus Wainright's "Out of the Game" and Galician folk music on youtube. Also, old Alan Lomax recordings from Scotland I found on the web.

Always fun to pick out the references to Tolkien's writing, among others, in Zeppelin songs.
Think I should get back over to the kilt part of the forum, though.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Didnt expect to see a Zevon fan on the XMarks site. Anything in particular you like from him as he was rather eclectic in his own right.
Shame his has never been considered for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Nothing in particular. A friend sent me copies of his music several years ago. Thankfully it was edited with the strong language bleeped over.

I have pretty eclectic tastes too. Today on the ipod I had The Cars, Tom Petty, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Dropkick Murphys, New Order, the Real MacKenzies and the Rolling Stones.

String Quartet in C sharp minor, Op.131 by Beethoven - Beethoven's greatest work, at least that's how Beethoven himself considered it - played by the Alban Berg String Quartet. Later in the day I might listen to some Bach flute sonatas, or perhaps the Shostakovich eighth conducted by Mraviinsky.
