I usually wear my crest now but I do like to wear my MacMillan crest on occasion. Usually when I am wearing my crest on my sporran.

Speaking of which I have a new version of my crest on commission with David Dittmer.

Precisely, Scott! As we are well aware, it is perfectly acceptable to wear a clansman's badge in place of your own crest (circlet), and vice versa, whenever you so choose. The present Lochiel wears a bonnet badge on occassion, but curiously in the below photo, you can easily see that the crest on Lochiel's badge appears to be A dexter arm embowed in armor, the hand grasping a sword, all proper, encircled by a belt and buckle, not A sheaf of five arrows, proper, tied with a band, gules, encircled by a belt and buckle, in which you typically see as the crest of the Cameron chief, used by Camerons as the Clan Cameron badge. This is because the badge that Lochiel is wearing is the "old" crest of Clan Cameron (Lochiel) chiefs.

    Lochiel wearing the "old" badge.

    The current badge.

    Cheers,

Totally agree with Tim. Really hot soapy water, followed by a rinse with boiling water right out of the kettle, will do wonders for silver, be it cap badges or "eating tools". Let the silver dry on a soft towel, then give it a good polish with a linen tea towel, nothing else. No pastes, etc. Just a linen towel and plenty of elbow grease! Your silver will glow when you've finished, and no details will be lost.
