I bought my son the red and white striped tie to wear with his kilt when he was in high school (team colors). They also have black and gold. They are very good ties for the price - nearly as nice as some Brooks Brothers ties I have and much, much better than some from other online discounters.

The waistcoat / jacket combo really catch the eye and makes that tartan really "pop." Wish I looked that good in a kilt. Dashing, sir, simply dashing!

Just a follow up:
This is what I wore to the Advent Kirkin o' the Tartan / St. Andrew's Day Luncheon. I enjoy this "kit" and believe it is a finished outfit...
other than a better knot for my neck tie. Criticism welcomed and thanks again, to the rabble.

Both looks are great, but the waistcoat, tie and hose in the second make everything pop. I'm not sure which piece I'm drooling over more-- the jacket or the waistcoat?

Also, California Highlander, thanks for getting the image up.
BTW, I know this is fairly old, but I just reread the entire thread, and zeroed in on your comment about the MOD tam.
I own several--some for collection only as they have regimental hackles--and I really like to wear one in the fall and winter. Warm, small, easy to keep up, etc. I wear one with a Robertson backer and a "one size fits all" thistle badge, non-clan specific. It really does look good with casual wear, and I even wear mine with jeans and such. I recommend it for casual wear.
Be sure to get a genuine regimental tam. In the US, no one associates it with the regiments, so you won't look like you're wearing military gear out of uniform. And if they do, who cares!

I love the hose with that kilt! And I always like to see lapels on a waistcoat, as well. I think it adds a lot of depth and character to an outfit. Well done!

It's been said several times, but the jacket/waistcoat combo in both pictures really works well. I've been thinking of adding a few more waistcoats to my wardrobe. Now you've really inspired me to do so...Where's my letter to Santa?
