    I've never been keen on the bluebonnet tartan, and am happy to have an alternative. I couldn't care less whether the state of Texas recognizes it.

    To be honest, I really don't care for either tartan.

    Smile when you say that, pardner.

    I prefer the Houston Bluebonnet, but I like all of 'em. I may not be from Texas, but I'm trying to get there as fast as I can...

    Never ask a man where he's from. If he's from Texas, he'll tell you. Otherwise, you'll just embarrass him.

    That's just what I was thinkin' pardner. Don't mess with Texas.

    I ain't even seen 'em an I like 'em.
    I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

    The phrase "Well bless your heart..." would also be appropriate. I resisted posting what the bumper sticker on my grandfather's car said...it was a popular sentiment about residents of SOCAL in 1980s Arizona.

    <just kidding>

    What's the big deal if Texas has more than one tartan? Scottish clans often have multuple tartans. I do not like Bluebonnet and options would be welcome. Or how about a tartan for each region? Rangeland, Hill Country, Desert, Etc.

    I don't have a problem with the Lone Star tartan per se; I just happen to prefer the Bluebonnet, and especially the Houston FD variant of it better. As far as a regional tartan for the Hill Country, the most famous resident of the Hill Country of Scottish heritage has his own tartan -- Clan Johnson/Johnstone. His little place along the Perdernales River is still there.
