    I enjoy wearing my tweed flat hat. I think it gives a more polished look to you whilst kilted. I have yet to wear my Balmoral because my wife and I do not really care for the way it looks. She was just saying last night how she likes me kilted and it to look easy not so formal.

    As far as traditional Highland civilian dress (THCD) goes, skip the tweed flat cap and get a Balmoral. If you aren't trying to be traditional, then go for it.
    Precisely. You'll find many more occasions to wear a kilt and whatever up top than ones where you feel you must adhere to a topper dress code. Let the event be your guide.
