BCAC, No you are correct; it is "disappointing" (?) that the officer in question was not better turned out. It actually wasn't a Remembrance Day service proper but the commemoration of a battle from the War of 1812-14. Again that is not an excuse. Nor is the fact that they are a reserve unit. One would hope that a unit preparing for such an ocassion (that is the Prime Minister he is escorting) would have gone over kit with a fine toothed comb and it the good Lt had a uniform that was substandard that either the deficiency would have benn addressed or another officer sent in his place.
Just one more thought ... I do not know what the practice is in that area but I do know that in some areas local units are tasked out to various Remembrance Day service which run throughout the day ... perhaps there were other taskings on their calendar. It is somewhat surprising that an Lt is escort to the PM.... just a thought.

I'm sorry. As the OP stated that the photo was from a "Remembrance Day" parade and the fact that there were poppies on the wreath, I assumed (wrongly, as it turns out) that it was, in fact, a "Remembrance Day" parade.
