Go to Utilikilts.com and read about how a High school Junior was thrown out of his prom because he was wearing an Utilikilt. It is sad to hear stories like these. People are just very close minded in some cases, and can be worse in the Public School Administration. They are paid to follow the rules only. They are to make sure the students turn out to be like them.
I have to wonder, were the boys send home because they broke the dress code or as a result of their rebellious act?

I am of the opinion that if oner were to dig deeper into what is really behind all of this one would find that it is not about dress code and/or kilts. There is another agenda here which Tobie is about to infringe on. This is a dangerous area. Do we know the enemy?
NO, I am not paranoid.
Tobie,
I would like to caution you again. I'm not recommending you not do something. Just be prepared for the unexpected.
We have a saying in the security business, "If it doesn't feel good, it isn't."

It's because mainstream society wants it that way . Anything else is a little to hard for them to deal with. If it falls out of a their perceived idea of what "Normal" is then it is danerous, and deviant to them.
Sheep on the other hand are relativly easy to handle.

Because it is easier for governments to herd the sheep than chase down the wolves.

There are legitimate reasons for dress codes. safety is the primary one. Also decency. Then a company might have a certain image that's important to it's customers. I school the only one with a valid application is decency. What you run into with "officials" is they don't want to have to think. Everything must be precisely as written in the rules and the rules must cover every contingency. If something comes along that doesn't fit, if it isn't expressly permitted it's forbidden. These are small people with small minds living in a constant state of fear that something might change.
