Thanks for the garter info. They are nicer than the ones I use, with the little triangular cut outs.

Of course, having served in the 17th/21st, you would have known that the "Regimental" tie is not really military clothing.
No, of course it's a non uniform private purchase. Sadly the 17th/21st were amalgamated with the 16th/5th back in the 90's to form the Queens Royal Lancers. Now that is about to be amalgamated with the 9th/12th to become the "Royal Lancers." The "Motto" will survive in some form, but the cavalry has been virtually destroyed by the government. The Royal Lancers will become the only Lancer Regiment in the British Army. Who needs to face the enemy when there are Members of Parliament?

I didn't know of these recent amalgamations. Shame really, but. I served briefly attached to the 16/5th The Queens Royal (don't ever forget!) Lancers a while ago now.
Your Regimental tie is available from here if you are having trouble finding one.

It's really sad, hundreds of years of history destroyed by gutless politicians, the lowest form of life on the planet. Thanks for the tie link, but I do have one.

I can only but agree with you, here. My Regiment had a sister Regiment (we "fought" alongside each other on Mount Igman/Sarajevo in the early nineties) and, due to these politicians, this Regt (1st Bn The Devonshire and Dorset Regt (1 D&Ds)) are no more! It is truly sad, as you say.

Are you a Dorset man? I know your regimental museum in Dorchester. I lived in Dorset for a few years. Anyway, united by the kilt and mutual loathing of politicians!

We seem to have gone from the question of Blazers to Regimental Ties and Museums. A great number of our members have tailored their jackets to an Argyle style and wear a variety of items with their kilts that turn up the noses of others. Why not wear a Regimental Badge on a Kilt Jacket? its the same as a blazer but cut to give room for the Sporran. Just because its not been done before ? Many tend to wear what they want so why not this. Because I have many Badges, Regimental, Royal British Legion and Club, they are each on a stiff card within a red cover (I was army) attached to a medal holder which I slip into the top pocket when attending functions. This discussion makes me want to wear my RBLScotland badge when I attend the next function in my kilt.

Indeed, united by the kilt and loathing of politicians. I'm not a Dorset man, I'm from Ayr in Scotland. The D&Ds were my Regiments sister Regiment. Fighting partners from way back. Great bunch of lads.

I have more than one cap badge I could wear if I include TA service and I was a RAF Apprentice (Failed exam) before joining the Army but the 17th/21st Lancers was my main service and the only one I wear. Not a bad idea of yours. I'll give it some thought. Convincing my wife I need to spend money on a jacket will be the hard part! Were you KOSB?

Yes, I was KOSB. The badges I mentioned are bullion wire Blazer Badges.
