Anyway, I find this board far more encouraging, I posted on the 'other' introducing myself, and half the replies ignored me (ignored ME, didn't they know who i am???) and then went on other topics.
This is the friendly place, by a mile.

Maybe not, but I cannot believe how this forum took off like it did. Thanks for making it so much fun...
Hank, I think you were in the right place at the right time.
When it started, bravehearts was having a lot of outages and site hassles, Toms' place was going queer, so up arose a place that was clear to follow, simple to post in, sensible and focussed on kilts...
and with the growing interest in kilts, how could it not succeed?

Hank, It just boils down to this: It's just a great group of people!

I was checking out kiltmen.com when Hank posted a notice of his new site. I joined right away and haven't looked back since.
This is by far the best kilt forum out there. The company is great and the coversation is often informative.

Last summer, out of the blue, I decided that I wanted a kilt...and I can't even think of what sparked the whole thing. I found the Bravehearts forum, and lurked there most of the summer/fall/spring, posting around once a month, if that.
I checked out Tom's Cafe a number of times, and actually liked it more last summer (Bravehearts was dead for a long time), but then it started to get really creepy with all the dresses, clutch-bag matching, pantyhose stuff. I opened up a pic of "Mary Jane Boy" one day and was scarred for life. I haven't been back much since then.
Now, I spend all of my time here (I can barely keep up with this site - let alone others!) I enjoy the comraderie that exists here, like a lot of the other guys have said.
I also find a sort of "adopted" family here. Graham and Glen are my cool uncles, even with their weird green tights fetishes. Hank is my younger (barely), but more responsible brother. Jimmy and Rocky are the older brothers that would get me into trouble all the time. Rhino, Blu, and Freelander are the older cousins that make you laugh ... the list is endless!

Rufus,
In response to your comments about me being your cool uncle, I must share that one of my nephews was introducing me to one of his friends, and said that I was his Mom's brother, but that's OK he is soooo cool. So every time I hear the word cool in relation to uncle it gives me a chuckle. Thank you and you are a good and pretty cool nephew, but I must admit that only Graham has the fetish for green tights hehe

This sums it up for me. I was looking up a local
highland games and found a link to Hank's website.
After lurking for a few days, I posted on a few topics.
Then I was bitten by the forum bug. I haven’t looked back since.
