Which in the context of Highland evening attire/a piper in his formal kit, is quite alright. Arguably, the idea of being consistent with metals (usually silver), stones (if applicable), tartan and Argyll style hose, etc, is much more prevalent in Highland evening attire than in its daywear counterpart. And rightly so.

After 11 attempts to register here under different names, we now have enough evidence to confirm that this is again Steven Aikens of Jasper AL. This time using an IP proxy in an attempt to hide his real location.

What I find interesting is that even after long hair sporrans ceased to be worn with day wear, the dirk was still occasionally worn with tweed jackets and leather sporrans. I've actually seen day wear dirks made in the 19th century that were obviously not intended to be worn with evening wear.
Key word here being 19th century, hence the Victorian era more than likely. Kenneth MacLeay's wonderful portraits also come to mind in regards to the Highland dirk. I think within the context of the catalogue, the addition of the dirk with its glittering metal and Cairngorm stones, is purely an advertising tool. R.W. Forsyth attempting to show as much of their product as they can in a single illustration. Artistic licence, if you will.

It would interesting to see how whatever XMTS is in 100 years will view what we see currently as examples of proper highland dress from some of the online purveyors of same!

I'm confused, for most of these posts by the original poster this is all I see...

Can someone please look into this because I'd really like to see what other posters seem to be seeing.
