If this problem persists, despite the fact that no deliberate changes were made to the settings, you may want to experiment with the settings by going into the Admin CP -> Attachments -> Attachment Manager and edit each file type to increase the maximum file size allowed for each.
You'll possibly also need to increase the PHP settings upload_max_filesize and post_max_size to accommodate larger uploads.

Mike, whom are you speaking to with the above suggestions? I hope that the admin and Steve resolve this problem internally, as I for one find this debacle more than frustrating....
I won't be happy until I can once again post directly from my iPad as I've been doing since joining this forum....

Patience Hawk. This is a free site and from the looks of it the team are trying to understand the problem and resolve it as best they can.
Yes it frustrating but I've previously belonged to paid memebership sites where tech issues were not dealt with as openly as Steve and team do here.

Hawk,
As I mentioned in my earlier posts, I'm a senior Administrator on another VBulletin based Big Board forum. I'm giving advice to the staff for back of the house permissions to resolve the problem, not the users.
I concur with the suggestion that we give them time to sort this out. Many factors can cause these sort of glitches, and tracking them down and fixing them can be a hassle.

I think we should all remember that Steve and the staff have "regular" jobs in different time zones, so sorting out the XMarks glitches has to be done outside of their regular work hours. Patience is needed here. Obviously they want to get it fixed, too, but these things take time.

You are correct Steve there is a difference in the HTML code, the top one is treated as an image as in:
<img src="http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=23394&d=1417637347"
whereas the next one is treated as a link: <a href="http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=23396&d=1417637717"
Don't know if this helps or how the change could have come about.

HI all, still working on this. It may have to do with the fact that XMTS was re-hosted to new servers recently, and some of the supporting software versions may have changed. I am looking into that as we have not made any changes/upgrades to the vBulletin software or any plugins in well over a year.
