Ok Guys Me wife caught me reading this thread and said the following,

Thoose guys must think their wifes are stupid if they think you can get away with saying things like "Oh I've had this ages or somthing similar After all it's the wives that wash most of the cloths and put them in the wardrobe afterwards"

Women notice things like cloths and hair It's the way their made I suppose....Honesty is best...I've still ordered a kilt and told her afterwards....It's not the money as I've said before...I think it's more what other people think that concerns her as we live in a small community...

So lads order first and "pay for it later"(When the wife catches up with you)
    All the Best.....David.

You underestimate the effectiveness of a properly executed slow fade.

It's gotten to be kind of a game. I'll get a kilt and she'll do the "When did you get that?" and I'll say, "Oh, This?","You remember when I told you I ordered this." Then she'll get that 'look' and say "I remember now...". Then when I see something I know she just got I'll do the same to her and she 'repays' me with "The minds going so I wonder what else is going too..."

    We leave it at that.

    Cajun wife...

My wife is of almost pure-lood Louisiana Cajun -- it is not wise to anger such a hot-blooded person, especially when it comes to clandestine purchases of highland "kit"!

Besides, I don't get anything until she gets her Louisiana Tartan skirt!

She once found out that I referred to her as "She who must be obeyed", from the novel "She" -- at first she was a wee bit miffed, then she found out that she really like the title and all that it implied!

    Oh, well...

    Cheers! (b)

Well, after a few drams of Scotlands' finest, I am now well positioned to share with my comrades in kilts the devastating outcome to date of this whole sordid affair.

While I suspected, following Blu's famous questionaire, and my wife' less-than-encouraging response to some questions, that she may not be as excited about my kiltaddiction as some of your wives seem to be....however the truth was finally revealed in a recent comment by she-who-cannot-understand. It was one of those comments that come out unexpectedly but reveal so much of the real intents of the heart.

    ...the news was not good.

she finds me....ME, a husband of some 26 long years of service, she finds "unattractive" in a kilt.

Unattractive???? God's Gift to women? the stylish, the celtic prince, the one and only graham-in-a-kilt....unattractive???

I have to admit, it was like a Claymore in the cobblers, but lifes' little challenges are there to be faced. There is growth and understanding that is not yet grasped nor understood, time will help.
but in the meantime, in order to maintain this blessed marriage I must return to trousers, leave the board and hang the kilts up for a while until my wife receives understanding of the needs of men to express their individuality in dress.

You all know that this is what must be done, right?

wrong.....I'll wear what the bloomin heck I want and regretfully I will have to restrict my wife's allowance for the next few months while imposing a range of creative disciplinary measures to help rehabilitate her appreciation of those fine celtic traditions that she seems to have lost sight of.

My advice to young men now is....wear your kilts and let your wife to be clearly understand that to love you is to love your kilt.!!!!

Hang a few pics of Mel Gibson and Sir Sean in kilts around the house. She'll come around.

Oh my, Graham! Oh, uh, well, that is to say, uh, oh my!

I know a guy that claims to have been a "deprogramer" during the early seventies. He used to kidnap people who had been led astray by religious cults and keep them at a secret location until they had returned to their "normal" behavior patterns. I could see if he was interested in a trip to Tasmania.... Maybe this could be developed as a service to others who would like to wear the kilt but face resistance from spouses.

Rome wasn't build in a day and a wife's mind is not changed that fast either!

    Keep to the guns!
