For the 47th... I created a leather flap and epoxied a rare earth magnet to the back of it. Two holes for the pin attached the jewel on the outside, and a second magnet loose inside my jacket did the trick.

Excellent idea. Thank you. I am going to try doing this.

Sent an email to one of the head-honchos of the state and briefly mentioned my musings of this sash, he responded with a positively lovely email encouraging the practice and liking how I was expressing a little character without taking any political liberties. With the sale coming to a close, I ordered the sash from and am waiting on its delivery. Ordered it from some guy named 'Rocky', ironically, as he was the first responder to this thread. The American Heritage pattern is a definite improvement over the Bicentennial Pattern that my local Knights are wearing, it's a tad more somber for formalwear. I'll be just tucking it over my suit without a clasp initially, avoiding anything too flashy with logos unless some one higher ranking than me suggests otherwise.

I used to have to wear two pocket-medals at once at my Scottish Rite, one general member jewel and one '200th Anniversary Jewel' as the Northern Rite had just had its anniversary. Everyone was walking around with two jewels, I took off the anniversary jewel and have gotten more stares for doing so. I have a rack of pins that have been given to me by friends, only wearing one for particular occasions or for sentimental reasons. I once saw a young guy my age wearing nine pins...but he explained to onlookers that he had two more on the way. He wasn't joking.
