On Canada's west coast I also celebrated NATIONAL tartan day but as I walked up and down the main street in the village there was only me and a wee dog wearing a tartan

I was about the only one in tartan that I saw as well, I was going to head down to the Caledonian, but had to do a bunch of other running around so did not get there, I was however there on Tuesday.
I love your outfit by the way I think it looks great.

I don't think " like" being a curmudgeon is right as that implies conscious effort and that is not my way or intention. Perhaps my post 23 in this thread explains it? The last paragraph in that post, is particularly pertinent I think?

Thank-you McMurdo .......I always enjoy seeing you in your many different kilts and jackets and admire how you are able to make changes either subtle or quite noticeable. I always enjoy the photos you post and am envious of you with the groups of friends you have with the same pleasure wearing a kilt brings......living in a small town on Vancouver Island greatly limits the number of people who wear kilts, very often, even remotely, but I do, and try to wear my kilt and Jackets at the very least of provocation. I am always greeted with smiles and compliments. I am rather new to it but have always liked the way a kilt and jacket looks and as stated once or twice before, it kind of makes one stand a bit taller and straighter. I am hoping to get a second kilt soon in the Canadian Maple Leaf tartan......and after that who knows how many more I may acquire heh! heh!......cheers!

I did not wear any tartan for Tartan Day, unless you count the plaid boxer shorts under my office trousers (full disclosure: I have more of these than I have kilts). This forum is the only mention of Tartan Day I heard. Methinks the majority of people don't know and/or don't care. And the ones who do, try to make it into a bigger deal than it warrants. Remnants of Scottish culture are all around us in the New World but very few seem keen on celebrating it or even acknowledging it.
I'll bet they could juice up the exposure of it by advertising it as some sort of Scottish version of St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps begin a tradition of getting stinking drunk on whisky or ale (dyed blue, of course), and dressing up like Mel Gibson as William Wallace, running around yelling "Freedom!" Then, my friends, we might have a holiday that would would interest the masses.

When I first started on this journey I was the only guy I knew that wore the kilt, I guess I am lucky that way as living in a big city I found others who wore the kilt. I'm glad you like the photos of my various adventures while wearing the kilt, it is my hope that by getting out there, I can at least show people that there is nothing wrong with it. Not that that is anything I really think about from day to day, but you'd be surprised how many people I run into that say "Oh I should have worn my kilt." I just never want to be that guy.

Perhaps Bombay Sapphire, in honor of long service there by the Highland Light Infantry, raised from Clan MacKenzie?
