On the Atkins list I'm on some people have reported that they are able to stop taking the drugs to control blood sugar by combining exercise and low carbing.
They can never really say they are cured, I think, but they are controling the condition by altering their behaviour.
Only recently someone was astonished and delighted to report that their morning reading was now - I think 95, when the uper limit of normal was maybe 105. It must be such a relief to discover that diabetes does not necessarily mean a lifetime of taking drugs which have no guarentee of preventing the 'normal' side effects of the illness such as blindness and gangrene.
