You are so right Hamish, I do want to join you in Hertfordshire, but since I have a wedding to recover from it will have to wait for the next "Gathering to Beat all Gatherings". Thanks to all for your kind responses! It was truly a delight to meet Ham in person -- he was a terrific host, especially with his willingness to travel several hours into London on relatively short notice. I had a wonderful time!

You "tell" correctly, of course and, since Mark is on his travels, I'll jump his gun and confirm on his behalf that he was wearing the Scottish National - a semi-trad from Rocky (and very nice indeed it is too - can't wait for my Irish National from him!!)

Ham, thanks for jumping in with that . . . the USAKilts semi-trad is a recent acquisition . . . I'm definitely enjoying it! (Thanks, Rocky / Kelly!!)

Actually, I didn't have to work too hard, due to the weather!! My Kilt Kollection is not even close to Ham's, and from the ones I brought with me (Gunn modern and the Scottish Nat'l), it was a choice of 2 -3 sweaters / fleeces to go with either predominantly green kilt -- the grey fleece won out due to warmth!! (But I'll admit it was a consideration!!)

(Along with several of you, I now have the catalog for The Sock Company . . . )

Did you happen to get the details of the kilt that Roman gentlemen was wearing. It is rather splendid.

The cloth ... is that 1,600 oz worsted bronze? Bet it does not blow up in a jolly good gust.

He was a man of few words, especially about his kilt sources . . . must have gotten an especially frugal deal. It was apparent, however, that the pleats on his didn't have much of a swing factor. :rolleyes:

As Raphael mentioned, I appear to be the one with the most kilted frequent flyer miles . . . at lease at the moment. It has been my very distinct pleasure to have met a number of you while on my travels, and I must say that, without exception, you have all been very hospitable and a pleasure to meet. I very much look forward to meeting more of you in the future!!
