Don't forget about Robin. It was actually his thread back in September (A Hole in One...Almost) that got me going, especially when he brought in a pic from Phil's thread from last spring.
Thanks Robin.

Thanks for the reminder cousin, had totally fogotten the thread of Robin's post. Was just after my mother died and think I was using this board to escape the reality of it. Plum forgot with all the aftermath details and intensity of her passing.
Thanks Robin.
So, hopefully, in a few more months I'll have me one of my own to wear in honor of my Skye ancestors.

Started reading it last night. On page 11 you write:
"Men wore a belted plaid (pronounced played) ... which came to be called feileadh mór, ..."
In the next edition, can you include as part of the glossary of terms and stitches the pronunciation (both correct and Anglicized) of these words? I don't know about others but whenever I encounter non-English words in a text, I wish I knew how they were pronounced. This, probably because as I read I hear the words in my head. Not knowing proper pronunciation is a bit of a distraction.

Sure! I'll see what I can do to find someone who really knows so that I get it right.

Barb, the Isle of Skye kilt is stunning. I have been a big fan of that tartan (an dht place it represents) for some time. Your work is incredible.
Just a brief thought for the next addition to the book. I am not a fan of the belted plaids myself, and I know it is not really relevant to the rest of the book, but perhaps a brief section on laying out a belted plaid, etc. With this, the excellent instructions for the traditional kilts, and the new comtemporary kilt additions, you would basically cover all spectrums of the different kilts available. Just a thought, as I said I would likely not use it, but I am sure some on this site would.

woah...that pleatwork is just fantastic Barb!
Those two look great walking together....the pleats swaying, the fall color in the light and foliage.
As an aside, I'm really starting to like popcorn hose too.
