I guess I am extremely lucky. My first date with my wife was to a reenactment, and I was kilted (of course). Then again, it is a bit different when you're not in uniform with 20 other guys in kilts, carrying muskets and bayonets. She is still "iffy" about going out in public while I am kilted (even 14 years later), but she has never once told me not to wear it. She even encouraged me to wear it to a large family reunion, where the only negative comments were from my in-laws who already loathe my very existence. No great loss there.

Mrs. C, according to my wife, you never really get over your fears and trepidations of negative comments. But knowing that wearing the kilt makes your husband happy helps. Understanding his motivations helps. And as far as the feminine thing, well, I just don't see how someone who is 6'4" tall and 290 lbs, and covered in hair can even vaguely be considered feminine, no matter what they are wearing. But that's just me (literally).

My ex loved the fact that I wore kilts, though she admitted to being jealous because of the attention I got from the ladies.

Mrs Cavscout, there are a lot of us out here, and most of us, after trying the kilt for the first time, don't wanna give it up. Ever. It's comfortable and masculine--in fact, probably the most masculine garment a man can wear, IMHO. Glad to hear you are coming around!
