I agree but it is against a dark green, it may look washed out. The yellow just pops.

All the stripes are probably too big, I don't know the sett size.

In a word, no. We pleated Madonna's kilts that way and don't do it any more. WAY to much work and to do it "properly" would be to re-invent 1/2 of our construction process of the Semi Trad.

BTW... sorry I missed that question until just now.

No worries, I was truely expecting the answer to be no (and was half joking when I posted). But it would still be cool.

the blue stripe is one of the ones I posted a few pages back. Rocky advised against it because it doesn't "pop" as much as the yellow.
Remember the actual fabric will look different then computer rendered colors.

So just when I'm convinced that to the yellow stripe is the way to go, we get a thread showing the Coast Guard tartan pleated basically the way I originally asked about.

Gotta decide soon I guess, makes my head hurt (and is the tartan in, any word?).

that coast guard tartan has a really unique look! I kinda like it.

Seriously though, since there are so many ways you can pleat it. I really think you should ask your kilt maker to show you pics of what some of ways will look like. The general consnsus seems to be sett or yellow stripe, but you keep going back to the no stripe. Your gut instinct counts for something so I'd say to fully explore that option. You don't want to regret not having going with your gut. A chance at looking at all the options side by side would really help. Just a suggestion.

I hope you guys get this all figured out before Rocky starts making MY Army kilt!

I like the Coast Guard pleated as above but the bold horizontal stripes are more balanced to me than the ones that would appear on the Army tartan.
