Incredible effort, and I am envious. You're a great advocate and promoter of the kilt.
May God speed your journey.

I'm pretty sure that Andrew's pack weight allows for only one or the other, not both.
IMHO, there's always room in the weight allowance for an extremely lightweight pair of nylon shorts. However, he's doing the hike, not me. (I put my gear on wheels.)

I probably could carry the shorts and only change into them when I get to a road. However, every little bit of weight counts. I don't even carry anything to change into when I do laundry (which sometimes makes doing laundry at a public laundromat a little more exciting!). The shorts are working out for now, and have no fear - I have a closet full of kilts waiting for me when I return from my hike.
My journal is updated through yesterday, and I've just sent home a digital photo card with about 300 pictures on it, so at least some of those will be up soon.

Thanks for checking in Andrew! I have been following your blog for some time now as your in my old stomping grounds. (I used to run off road biking through that same area) I have certainly enjoyed your posts and hope that the rain ceases at some point for you!

Good to hear from you Andrew. I'm following along too - What kind of cookies do you like?
Oh, and tell Shaggy that thanks to you at least one XMarker is reading his blog as well.

Way to go Andrew. My old college roommate is from Grants, so I know the area well.
Good luck on the rest of your journey.

I've made it to Colorado, after 700 miles through New Mexico.
One state down, three to go.

If you need anything while you're here, I'd be glad to give you hand, and if you'll be around Denver on Sat, we've got a kilt night going on!
