everybody has good and some very bad points to in responce to my question but the people have died to wear the kilt responce was interesting people, friends of mine are fighting everyday wearing uniforms should Mil guys be all fired up at kids wearing uniforms? No they are fighting so you can wear what you want when you want how you want. Unless you have fought and killed for anything dont compare anything to it. I will be deploying again soon and have brothers all over the world operating.
IMHO if my son wanted to wear a camo kilt with his costume then he could he would be the worlds first kilted frog (hmmm might talk to SPECWAR about a change...) and I think it would be great.
I don't belive anybody called the Kilt a costume the question was why are people so against it being worn with or as a part of one.
Master Guns If I was still on the Island I would drive up so my boy could trick or treat at your house

And right now I'm trying to figure out what to wear for the upcoming Halloween party, and all I know is I want to work a kilt into the costume.
Indeed, this is also how I got into serious kilting. I am going this year a a medieval knight and my lovely lady as a damsel. I plan to incorporate a kilt into the costume.

There are far too few opportunities to dress as Robin hood, Zorro, The Phantom of the Opera, a Highwayman, Sinbad, Hamlet, The Crow
All at once!?!

Now that's just silly, but Panache does have all those listed above and Spiderman, Superman and Batman. Unfortunately they are in underwear form.

That, in and of itself, prevents it from being treated as any other type of clothing.
But the kilt is not treated like any other clothing, and if you wear it as a costume it is less likely to be seen as everyday wear. Hopefully that will change. The other reason it offends is unlike jeans or khakis it has a symbolism that some don't like denigrated. The worst offender of this is the Insta Kilt box. While I have no problem with the kilt towel selling it with an "Up your Kilt" t-shirt and one of those stupid jimmy hats as a costume is pure rubbish.

Exactly.

However you are a kilt wearer, so your view is skewed here. It's not about someone dictating to you, it's about changing perceptions. Not everyone sees wearing their kilt as a sign of anti-establishment or rebellion.

Your welcome
Think about it, Halloween is about dressing up as something you are not. So if you are a regular kilt wearer (and particularly if you see it as part of your identity) why would you wear one on Halloween as a costume?
