That happened to me the other day at Target. The lady at the cash register, (who was certainly well beyond "middle age") said "Is that a kilt???? I've never seen one except in movies or on TV." This took me a bit by surprise, and, at a loss for something more clever to say, I came out with "How sad for you."
We had a good chuckle over that.

How would you handle a situation or what would you say if some said:

( Yeah, but its still a skirt) Had a jerk say this.
"Yeah, and you're still an idiot."

( Is that a Kilt?) Had someone ask this in a crowd at a super market.
    "Yes. Thank you."

( Hey dude,Love your costume) Idiot at the mall while we were Christmas shopping.
    "Thank you."

( Hey Bud,would you not mind wearing your kilt? I have some buddys coming and two are very homophobic ) Said by a former friend when he invited my wife and I to a cookout last labor day.
"Homophobes are usually deeply closeted homosexuals. Should I be worried?"

These are just a few,but they are well offset by all the positive comments over the past year or so.

I had a lady in Wal Mart say the same to me! I was wearing my Black Stewart, so I said to her "Well, this is a good one for your first." We had a short chat afterwards.

This is worth highlighting as it so far hasn't been mentioned. I have had strangers compliment my 'skirt' - I could have taken offense but quickly realized they just didn't know it was a specific subset of a skirt called a 'klilt'.

I probably would have had some choice comments for the now former friend.

I had a buddy of mine tell me he wouldn't go out in public with me if i wore my Kilt. Still wore it. Had a good time.
