The Colonel thing is kind of a mixed bag. If it is given to someone who lives out of state, it is usually for doing something worthwhile. If given instate it almost always means nothing (a friend's wife got him declared a Col for his birthday a couple of years ago, and all it took was finding an existing Col to sponsor him).

It does vary, I recieved mine for my work with the legislature and in my community on behalf to the Home Builders Association and as a volunteer, actually got it BEFORE my friend was elected Scty. of State. But yeah it has gotten kinda watered down over the years, I do like to think I "earned" mine. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thank you sir! So as a soccer / football player (I play goalie in a little league over here) I always have to ask any UK friends what club they pull for...so who do you pull for?
I have friends in Stoke who are lile ole Port Vale fans and another buddy from up east who pulls for Sunderland.
