Morning all
Just stopped off at the FC page and they are now showing IOS in one of their pix and below the pix is the tagline Isle of Skye Bright. OMG! I jumped back in my chair and had to shield my eyes.

Hey Matt,
I've only photos to look at, probably the same for you, but do you think the patten still matches in the corners of the sett where the light gray lines intersect? Hard to tell, but seems like if there's any difference its there.
On bright kilts; when I was researching my Leatherneck tartan options I saw a then new SportKilt in the Leatherneck tartan. What leaped out at me was how bright the colors were in poly/cotton. Nothing like the same colors in wool - a very beautiful and subtle tartan. Convinced me to go with the wool. Just my preference.
And, an interesting parallel between aloha shirts and kilts. Some aloha shirts are brightly colored. But some of the most beautiful are made with subtle colors.

Sometimes you just have to play to your strengths: Bright and proud of it!
You know they're watching this thread, of course.

Well, how do we know what tartan colors looked like when the paint on those old portraits was still wet?
The very bright colors may even be authentic to 300 years ago!
Way back in…1992…?
Wait.
Never mind.

Have to admit it's not the IoS tartan I'm used to seeing, but for bright I kind of like it.
Have to loose weight, before the Sect. of the Treasury will allow any new kilt purchases (aside from the 2 on order already).

Those colors look familiar ...
How many Mahna Mahnas did they harvest to make these kilts?
If I were going to buy an Isle of Skye in something other wool, I would buy it in PV from Pete.

[edit 20070202] I'm ashamed of myself for having made the following snide post, and I apologize to Larry124 for it. I still claim to be an electronics engineer and know full well that the spectral sensitivity of a CCD is different from that of a human eye (for that matter, human eyes differ too---ever hear the word "colorblind?") but I gave that no thought in drafting this post. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. [/edit]
When I saw the first photos of the FC IoS I thought, "At last! A candidate to replace the International Orange adopted for emergency equipment in 1948!" but now that I've seen their "McLeod Bright" I think we have a horse race.

Reason: to apologize.

I am stunned, is it IoS, or Barney? I could be a nice tartan, for little girls under the age of 12 who like such color combinations.

I just got a FC kilt in another tartan, and my initial report was to complain about how dark it appeared in comparison to my wool version and the photo on their website. When I actually wore it out, however, especially in fluorescent light, the color in the tartan just glowed.
As noted above by our resident experts, I think that it is the way colors come out with acrylic.
