Thanks for the fantastic photos, Bob and Freelancer!

I'm sorry that we didn't meet, but I was standing a little away from you during the open ceremonies and spied your name tag. Unfortunately, the bands started at that time and I got caught up with my own photo taking (hopefully pics to follow).

Later I was wandering around the paths looking for your sign, but never saw it or you.

Keith A., Galician, all other who we missed--NO REGRETS, NO RECRIMINATIONS! We each and every one had a fine day, even if we didn't actually meet up. Many may have missed my sign because it kept blowing down in the light breeze--I must perfect my signmanship for next year. We will get it together eventually!

    Cheers!

Let me share a story of an experience I had while on my way home from the Games.

Since it was getting toward evening, I stopped in Grand Central Station for a bite. A woman approached me and complimented me on the kilt. She then asked me if I spoke English.

When I told her that I do, she asked me how long I had been in the country.

When I told her that I was a native of New York, she said that she had never seen a man in a kilt before. Surprised, I asked her where she was from, expecting some really remote part of the country. She informed me Dayton, Ohio.

Galician--great story. At the games I had the gratifying experience of having a young woman and her mother stop me to ask to take a picture with me. The mother said that her daughter was shy, but wanted to take a picture with someone in Highland attire. It gave me a little lift to get the "celebrity treatment", and I felt as though my effort at authenticity and naturalness had been successful.

I had several Japanese groups take my picture, one older gentleman with a very elaborate video rig was filming me surreptitously, until I invited him to pick his angle, lighting, etc. It highlighted for me that some Japanese have an interest in things Highland--discussed in a segment of the Highland Classics documentary "Instrument of War". The interest in things Highland apparently knows no bounds!

Please do post your pics. Can't wait to see them!

    Thanks!
