I'm Australian-born, now live in California. Maternal Great-Grandparents were Scots, & Paternal Great-Grandparents Welsh/Cornish.
But, as for me, I'm pure Aussie! - despite my U.S. citizenship.

Welcome aboard. Like many here, I'm a Heinz 57 variety American mutt. I am 1/8th Scottish on my mother's side and 1/8th Irish from my father's side. Throw in a little Danish, Polish, French-Canadian, Dutch, English and Iriquois Indian and that pretty much completes the package.

Welcome to the board.
I'm a Canadian from Nova Scotia. My direct fraternal line includes James Logan my 5th Great Grandfather who was with the 78th Fraser Highlanders, fought in the American Rev. and founded my home town in 1784. I visted his fathers grave in Scotland and trace my line back to 1650. My wife and I were married in Scotland in 2003.

Hi,
English, German, Finnish and either Welsh or Scottish. Was told the "Roberts" name was Scottish, but digging around online I find more Welsh references than Scot. However, you just never know cause as it turn out there are some Scots with the last name of "Miller". They even have their own tartan -- go figure.
Bottom line, 100% American ;)

It is part of the great kilt, which is all one piece of cloth, pleaded and wrapped around the body. There are several things you can do with the upper part, and putting it over your shoulder is one.
Here are some sites on how to fold and wear it:

BTW if you are committed to historical accuracy, you wouldn't wear a great kilt to a ren faire. It didn't come about until after the renaissance.
As to place and ancestry, almost all my ancestors came to the US before the Revolution. My surname is Scots, as is my given name, which is another family surname. (We recycle names like that here in the South.) The rest is English, Welsh, Irish, Eastern European Jewish, and a bit of French and German.

What'r ya?
Welcome from The Gem State!
100% Harley-Davidson riding American here. But if you go back three or four generations, I have bits and pieces of German and Canadian from my Dad' and Scottish and English from my Mom.
But Like the Wizard of B.C. so aptly stated, I try to increase the Scotch in my bloodline every chance I get.

My Mother was Scots (born in Tobermory, Mull, 1900). Her mother was French/Scots (Boyd) her Grandfather married a Boyd, confused? If not, why not, I am.
My Paternal G-Grandmother a Ross, my Father's Mother's Grandmother, was a Leslie, and throw in a few Irish lasses who married into the line since 1688 and you get the picture on my Father's side.
I chose my Mother's clan tartan though. Maclaine of Lochbuie.
