Sean,
You are gentleman and very kind. I will definitely look you up when we get over there (sometime in February or March). It's folks like you that make this one of my favorite forums on the 'net.

Congratulations and welcome to the East Coast! Hopefully I will be able to make a Boston kilt night one of these days and meet you.

While you are a bit north of us here in the Cape Fear River Valley, my prayers are with you as you make this big change. It happened to me nearly 40 years ago, I made a bad move, just in time for the great college depression of the early 70's. No need to go into details, but I wound up in what I thought was the unwashed anus of the universe. In some ways it was, but the people I met were by and large wonderful, welcoming, and now it is home.
Best of luck on you move and new job.

We are our own Islands.....
Ozone~
In April of 2004 I picked up my family (which consisted of my Lovely Bride of 5 years, her daughter, 15 years old and a junior in high school, and our new daughter of 1) and moved to northwestern Illinois. We lived in Glendora, Ca (left Coast) a town of 45+ thousand people, to a town of 16+thousand people in the same square miles (culture shock to say the least!). It was the best thing I've ever done in my life. Not so much because the job was so much better, but because we did it as a family. This move brought us together and showed us what we could do when we were together. We have since moved back to California because my Lovely Brides mon had a recurrence of cancer.
William Shedd said that "A ship is safe in harbor, but that is not what ships are for". Life is uncertain and we make our own way. What got us through was the support my wife had for me and the strength we had as a whole. If your family is strong, that is all you need, and I can say that from experience.
Good Luck, my friend. Believe in yourself. Hope this helps.

That is a great quote!!!
Thanks everyone for the support /advice and ideas! I am now looking forward to my move and I will be trading some very nice mountains for some very nice seacoast since we will likely end up in Swampscott (i know..what a name!) or Marblehead. Now i just need to find some people with sailboats to mooch off of...hehehe
