My room is dark now so I'm safe to post. Normally, I come here several times after the sun sets to feed off the helplessly addicted. You see, I'm addicted to the addicted.

Maybe it's true...
I do usually check to see who's on line before logging in; you know paranoia, and someone's always watching. Perhaps I should bann myself from opening Off Topic threads, as well as, posting there.
It was that wonderful cockroach thread that hooked me back in. Life just hasn't been the same since...
I'm out of here, man.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I usually check in 2-3 times per day. Read a lot more than I post. I do have occasional lulls where I may not log in for a week or more. Lately I've been posting more and buying more kilts.
Is there a correlation there - the more you log in and post the more kilts you buy?

Ted, just remember that you have been banned from talking to me by my wife on Off Topic threads!

Life just wouldn't be the same without X Marks The Scot.

Not addicted. At least no more than I'm addicted to my wife or my friends. Much the same way as I can spend hours at the local, drinking pints and chatting with... well, just about anyone who happens to be there that night about anything from culture to politics to sports... X-Marks is just another outlet to chat with folks you have something in common with about something that brings you together and your interests.
On that note, and evidenced by the degrees of separation thread, it's nowhere near uncommon for X-Markers to get together in person and do what they do online. I must say, that's a huge step up from some of the people who pretend to have 700 friends on Facebook, but when they try to organize a live meetup, no one comes.

(The above link is a great little story to read, BTW).
As Ted aptly pointed out, spending time online replaces watching TV. As far as comparing the two, spending time online is far more interactive than just staring at a box so I can totally understand how people rack up thousands in their post count simply by checking in each day and keeping current with the dozens of conversations that are taking place. It's really quite unbelievable, that in the period of several hours, a single thread can accumulate 3 or 4 pages worth of posts. I've never seen that in any of the other forums I've ever taken part in (and still take part in).

Putting all talk of addiction aside, we wouldn't be here if this place wasn't as good as it is. And for that it's the Mods and everyone who posts here that make it so.

Mostly as the last thing at the end of the day (unless there is a PM waiting for me). Makes for a good winding down from what often is a hectic time.

No, not addicted; I merely check in about five times a day-even during my cancer treatments; It was hard to catch up, though, after five days in Hospital after the ER scare. But I managed.
Addicted/ Naw!
