How often do you carry a walking stick when kilted

I'll add to the practical. I have arthritic knees, and a balance problem, so I always use a stick. Therefore by extension I always carry/use a stick with the kilt, just a slightly different style.

I carried one (I have three) for 'flair', but it came in handy when I got a bit wobbly with the medication & chemo.

I at times need a cane, and there's nothing quite like a good blackthorn. Mine has the most marvelous root knob which grew at a nearly 45 degree angle; comfortable, supportive, and fits well to either hand.

I used to carry one quite frequently. It was mostly for dress / defense as I was downtown a lot.

Like a hat though, I find them a but cumbersome when out and about shopping. If I am to be proper, I remove my cover when entering a building. (this takes up a hand.) adding a can only means I have both hands full. For me, I ALWAYS wear a hat so to carry a cane, is simply not convenient.

I have an ash plant that I carry occasionally in uniform or when kilted. I also use a high-tech expandable walking pole when hiking.
