0 for 4 for custom sporran straps. Every place I have been doesn't make custom harnesses. All are part of some kind of a rigging. One of our forum vendors (Robert from RKilts) has offered to make one for me for $40 Canadian shipped ($34 U.S.) likely the best deal I can find for a 53" black leather Sporran strap. Sometimes I wish I lived a little further away from the city, but thank the kilt gods for XMTS.

Robert makes a good looking and sturdy sporran strap. I love mine. It will probably outlive me.

Let me start by saying that I don't even have a sporran in my possession yet, as I only have a Utilikilt at present. But 2 are on their way and I'm fairly positive they're going to come with chains. I'd like to find straps/belts (most of the posts I've searched for seems to use the terms interchangeably) to go with them. I think I'll first try to find a belt at a regular department store, but I'm not sure of what size it should be.
So, for a sporran strap/belt, how wide should the belt be and how do I determine how long I need the entire belt to measure? The ones I've seen for sale online seem to all be about 48.5". Will that work for my 38" waist?

I have a standard size sporran strap that is 3/4-inch wide and 44 inches long. It works fine and I have a 33-inch waist.

Stillwater kilts sell leather sporran straps. I think they are $10.95, as I recollect. Not custom made, but I have been thinking about getting one or two.

Mike MacRae has sporran straps but does not show them on his website: http://www.scotiametalwork.com/ I bought one from him recently at the Scotland County Highland Games where he would trim to size, so getting a custom fit would not be difficult. He was charging $10.00 at the games.

Also, see Oconee Leather Works, where I got mine - from an XMTS member.
