This worst beer by far I've ever had was "Galway Hooker" (as in the boat, you dirty ba$#@rds) in Ireland. If you're ever in Galway and see this on tap, just order a Harp.

I also like just about anything from local brewers Boundary Bay, in particular their Scotch Ale (the official beer of our local games), Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, & of course the old stand-by: Guinness
I do miss our (now defunct) local Orchard Street Brewery (not to be confused with a brewery by the same name back east). I worked for them in the early 90's, and after work would enjoy a pint or two of the Porter. Myself & another co-worker would first add a shot of espresso, then fill the rest of the way with the Porter. The two complimented each other nicely.
I don't usually go for pale ales, but I recently discovered at Trader Joe's an imported Organic Pale Ale called "Great Scot" thats brewed by the Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh. Its actually quite refreshing on a hot summer day!

A few of my favorites--in no particular order:
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Westmalle Dubbel
Orval
Big Sky Brewing's Ivan the Terrible Stout
Tyranena's Rocky's Revenge
Guinness
Any of the Rochefort beers
Lindeman's Cuvee Rene Gueuze
DuPont Saison
I could go on, but I've got to get back to work.

This is my favourite - http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/80/245 - Fraoch heather ale. A light, refreshing beer and, being made with heather it has a different but very pleasant flavour. If you see it definitely try it.

And that is why I don't drink Guinness outside of Ireland. Sounds yuck. Luckily, I will be home tomorrow just in time for a few scoops that don't taste of dishwater.
(Off topic, those dastardly Czechs have overtaken us! Drastic action must be taken, starting tomorrow! )
My beers:
Guinness (on tap, in Ireland)
Almost anything Belgian! (eg Duvel, Trappist beers like Chimay, Lambics)
Lowenbrau on tap was a lovely surprise.
Wheat beer (even Hoegaarden).
Budvar, Kingfisher, some varieties of Cobra.
Failing that, any lager, with Budweiser and Tennants very bottom of the list.

I like Guinness, but one of my favorites is the Weeping Radish Black Radish from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I haven't had any in a while,Because it's been a few years since I've been there. However, looking at their website, I just found that I can order online and that also have some retail outlets in the Richmond area. Looks like a beer run sometime in the near future, for me. Website below for anyone who is interested.
