Strathmore stocks this in their T7 weight (11 oz), so anyone who carries Strathmore tartans can get this for you (for instance, the STM!)

That means you can get ties, scarves, etc, lady's skirts, or a light weight men's kilt.

If you prefer a heavy weight kilt (as I do), it would require a custom weave. (Which, of course, we are also happy to do).

I wear the New York City tartan. It was my first, and its existence let me feel "entitled" to wear a kilt.

My avatar pic shows something of me wearing it.

The Arkansas tartan is my avatar. Most of my mother’s family is still there. For some reason I feel like I am just visiting California even though I have lived here for 30 years. I am toying with the idea of suggesting the Arkansas tartan for a Christmas family reunion. Do you think it would look "too" gaudy in a group? What type of pleating would look nice?

I have to throw my lot with my Texan brethren Tobus and Jackdaw in that the Bluebonnet isn't at the top of my list... It has too much going on for my taste. Maybe if they dropped the thin white line that bisects the light blue undercheck it'd look better to my eye.

From what little I can see from your avatar, I think the Arkansas tartan is lovely and would look just fine in a large group. I'd suggest pleating to the sett.

I'd like to get a kilt in this tartan one day. Wish it was available in PV from USA Kilts. More info on the California tartan in this thread, and here.

Box-pleated to the white stripe, hiding the red, which would flash open when you walk.

    Post AR tartans

I can't say I've ever seen it actually being worn as a kilt. I have a tie in it that was given to me by the lady who was the coordinator of the Arkansas Tartan Day festivities back in the early 2000s.

There are actually two Arkansas tartans; this one is officially recognized by the State Legislature, but the other tartan was not:

California is available from Sport Kilt. And Hawaii, FWIW. Mind you, I've absolutely no connection to either.
