When I'm faced with some moron who thinks he knows everything there is to know about everything I respond in one of three ways:

    1) Ignore him. Because opinion are like armpits--they all stink.

    2) Tell said moron "Those who think they eveything are annoying as h*%l to those of us who do".

    3) Remember Murphy's Law about arguing with idiots.

As has been said before, real friends will accept you as you are. Family is lot tougher.

I have to agree with cavscout, except for one minor point:

When did Marines start thinking? :P

Marines have always been thinkers. The problem is that they are so cerebral that they have to pretend that they aren't so that the other services, mostly the Navy, don't feel intimidated!

Other than the occasional 'why you wearing a skirt' comment I haven't had much people giving me a hard time about it. I suspect that part of it might be that I don't let it get to me. I enjoy how I look and feel in a kilt and I am proud of those daring Robinsons' who stole away to America to start a new life (in an era of travel where merely getting to America from Scotland was a crap shoot).

Here's the thing--- sometimes how the wearer feels about their clothing impacts how other people perceive it. So if you want to kill all this harassment: Walk tall knowing that there are hundreds of years of strong, determined people standing behind you wearing that same tartan.

And remember: you look damn fine in your kilt.

Actually, this morning, I looked a lot like Jimmy Buffet in a kilt. I wore my black Amerikilt, a black tank top, and a bright yellow Hawaiin shirt (unbuttoned and untucked of course!) Does that qualify as looking damn fine? "Wasting away again in Highland whiskey land. Looking or my lost snifter of malt! Some people say that there's a bovine to blame... but I know... it's that damned sheep's fault!"

Strangely, he says he "could never pull off wearing a kilt." I usually just tell him that if Shrek could do it...
I look a lot like a cross between a gorilla and a Wookie, too! I like this guy!

Yeah, but you have two eyebrows.

I can relate. People think I'm growing a mustache, but I just keep forgetting to trim my nose hair. Sometimes I hate being a mammal.

Having served in the Marines, and a proud owner of a Leatherneck tartan kilt, I have yet to hear any comments about my kilt wearing... and to be honest, if it represents the Marine Corps, officially or not... It's respected by all... but then again, as my biker friends like to say, .... when you are 6'2" and 260... wearing a kilt.... Few would say anything at all.. LOL

Hmmm... the Law of Gross Tonnage strikes again? :P

Actually funny that the Marines have become a part of this thread: the local Marine recruiter is going to be doing the Polar Plunge next year in a kilt (at my instigation)...
