    Interesting point Mark.

I'm really not sure who makes them for House of Labhran. All I know is theirs is also "made in Scotland" & their hat person is a woman. Other than that they planned to utilize the khaki wool that is current army issue for berets etc.

If true then this throws a whole new wrinkle into my plans...

Does anyone know if Mackie actually supplies the bonnets carried by the House of Labhran?

Thank you gentlemen, I truly appreciate the advice....and in truth this is the direction I'm leaning

Is Mackie the last bonnet maker, or the last traditional bonnet maker? The truth could hang on that fine distinction.

Earlier this month RB51 & I worked out a trade. The Glengarryhats bonnet for a WPG WW1/WW2 inspired Tam that he had. While I still plan to order a Robert Mackie in custom colours thru Chris when I have the funds, I've always wanted one of the WPG bonnets & found this an acceptable alternative for the time being. I can happily say that both RB51 & I are satisfied with our trade

I thought I'd post a couple photos of the WPG Tam:

In keeping with the military theme of the WPG Tam, I've added a swatch of Macdonell of Keppoch (in Ancient colours) with a Clan Donald badge to it:

Once I acquire the Keppoch badge (as seen on my avatar) from Mac Mhic Raonuill, then I'll replace the one currently on my tam.

That looks very good on you Terry...much better than it did on me I'm very pleased with the bonnet I got from you and am getting a fair bit of use out of it.

    Thanks Laurie

Why don't you post a photo sometime of yourself with your new bonnet?
I'd love to see it with it's new owner.

Just found out within the past hour that the bonnets carried by House of Labhran are indeed made by Robert Mackie.

This throws a whole new wrinkle into my plans as they can get the same khaki styled balmoral for $20 less.

I'm a penny-pincher, & funds are very tight, and yet Chris has really bent over backwards in assisting me....

One thing to keep in mind is the shipping. That might make quite a dent in your savings. Chris does free shipping worldwide.
