Re: Wearing my with pride at Pride
The answer has to be that you do what is right for you. Of course the stereotype is wrong and it should not be encouraged but that is not the same as deliberately setting out to change the perception by acting like the stereotype
Fighting on more than one front is not only exhausting but it halves your chance of success. Dress like the stereotype straight guy and you might fool him long enough to change his mind a little bit. Act instead like the stereotype gay guy and he may simply dismiss you before you can change anything about his perceptions
Life doesn't need to be a crusade all the time and it is possible to pick one's skirmishes in a way that helps to win the war. So, what I'm saying is that it depends on you

Re: Wearing my with pride at Pride
Wearing your kilt on certain occasions will bring spectators to think that it is some part of Pride dress. When recently moving around the Karl May museum near Dresden with the Quaich, it was maybe because I was not wearing one of my Western shirts, that they could think I was a 'Kilted Cowboy'. Keep on wearing your kilt with pride and forget the 'unknowing'.

All I can say, is good for you. Don't change a thing unless YOU want to. Leave your friend to their opinion. You look great.

from what i have been reading, it sounds like you should judge people by the content of their character rather than by the color of their kilt.

Thanks for posting, encouraging stuff ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
It makes me proud of my fellow Kilty men, who so often get casual abuse just for looking a bit different, for being so supportive: this forum is more affirming than some political ones, precisely because it's not about Politics, but about being ourselves.
Neither equality nor freedom from fear are always easily won. Standing together is sometimes an act of great bravery, so we are fortunate when it's a joy.
I remember a Pride march in the eighties (in the UK) when I was sought out by the TV crew for an interview as a 'straight supporter' because they didn't dare broadcast anyone who was actually gay - they didn't want to be responsible for any reprisals against them ![Crying or Very sad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
It's hard not to despise sometimes, but in the end compassion, including for those who don't understand or agree, is the only way I know to break the cycle of hate and make the world fairer, greener & more peaceful.
'Cos, you know how scary we are!
