Re: My new official kilt shoe
Yup, those ankle brogues look great. Sometime it is a bit of a jump to look at old pics or paintings of kilted gentlemen and then borrow parts of their look without looking dated. Big up Dale Seago, you've got an excellent grasp of the modern iteration of traditional style.
That being said, I don't think I would wear them

I'm inspired by, and hopefully learning a bit from, many here at xmarks whom I see as exemplars of both tradition and personal style.

Quite all right, I'm the same way about kilt pins! I see many I admire greatly, even bought a vintage sterling one lately that even at a bit over $200 I just couldn't pass up. But I won't wear one.
I do think these ankle brogues could work with a tie and tweeds. They definitely will work best, I think, for casual or "field" wear, a country/rustic sort of look.

More brogues spotted while in San Francisco last weekend on Powell St. at Aldo's.

More expensive than the Florsheim. The store appeared too "hip" for the likes of me.

Excellent turn-out! Good to see a traditional alternative. Your belt/buckle is top-shelve as well. Would you mind telling us where you aquired it?

It's the "Hunters Kilt Belt" from Mojo Leather:

Not only is the leather top-notch, but you order it cut to your actual kilted waist measurement. And they're fussy about the little things that help reduce wear on the kilt, like smoothing the inner face of the belt and rounding & burnishing the edges. Service is prompt, too. I have 3 of these kilt belts in different colors from these guys as well as two sporran straps, and I'm very happy with 'em.

Dale,
The boots look great with kilt for a daywear outfit. But I do have a more important question for you. How do they feel? Would these be a good walking shoe?
Cheers

I'd love to own a pair to replace my well-worn Vasque Sundowners.

They seem surprisingly heavy and clunky at first; they do in that sense take a little breaking in. As far as fit and comfort on the foot are concerned, though, they're very comfortable right from the get-go and I've done a fair bit of "light hiking" in them.
