Re: Irish included
Hi, BJay, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
While Irish kilts are a recent innovation (a bit more than a century), the kilt is a successor to the kind of clothing the Irish wore before the English made them wear trousers.
And I love to see all the tartans devised for Irish, Welsh, Cornish, Breton and Galician people to wear.
Just a pity my wife (who is of Irish descent) is not interested in any tartan.
Regards,
Mike

Welcome BJay.
Both the Irish and the Scottish come from my father's side as my Mum was born in England. In the case of my father... his father tended to play down his Irish heritage as he had memories of prejudice in his youth in Canada. My grandmother on the other hand was very proud of her Scottish heritage and made sure everyone knew we were part of the Colquhoun clan through her. I plan to have the coat of arms of my family name (which is Irish) and the family crest of the Colquhouns tattooed on either calf. They should be well presented while wearing my new/first kilt.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.
Crash thanks for your reply. It's funny the things that will cause you to turn your back on family name and other things of importance. Wow! A double barrell of Celtic. I went most of my life basically ignoring my Irish heritage, but thats in the past. Your grandmom sounds great, show your colors!
