Re: Alrighty gentlemen and dudes, have at it: Mummers Day Parade video
I enjoyed it in the context of the event.
Context is everything. Last week, I tossed a string of beads to a young lady in the produce aisle and the melons she displayed I could've had for 98 cents per pound. Very disappointed, I was.
Context.

To me it came across as a parody of a hyperbolic, Scottish-like caricature.
I guess I just didn't "get it".
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

As a piper, and the father of a dancer, I saw and heard plenty of content there to please me. A real piper, for one. The costumes (and face it, that's what they were) had a great deal of recognizable features. The tartans were a bit glitzed up, but the hats, bonnets, inverness flaps, crossbelts, plaids and doublets were quite recognizable. And the choreography--intricate steps and combinations while playing! Wow. The Mummers Parade is always a good show when you can catch it on the tube (never been to Philly in person). I watched it through, twice. The tunes were bit Broadway-arranged, but you could tell there was: Devil Among the Tailors, Scotland the Brave, Highland Cathedral and the Campbells Are Coming, among others. Seven minutes of quality work and they smiled throughout. I really enjoyed it.

Why does this video remind me of the Hooter's motto; Delightfully tacky, yet unrefined?
Thanks Good Girl. It was fun to watch. I know I couldn't have done all that.

Can anyone identify the tartan with the gold lame and sequins? Oh wait, that was all of them ....
As a Philadelphia native, I know you kind of have to grow up with the Mummers to really appreciate them. You have to admit, it was entertaining, for lack of a better word.

Not one of the best experience's I've ever watched! but you have to take it in the context it was meant! (a bit of fun and a lot of hard work for some) Some of the dancing reminded me of a poor Bollywood musical ith:
