I had the great pleasure of meeting the Invercauld, and enjoying a dram with him, at The Gathering in 2009. He was absolutely charming and his sense of humour was hugely in evidence. Here is an image taken at that time, L to R - Alan Caig, the Invercauld, my good pal Jim (of the Ilk) and yours truly:

Take care,

Fantastic photos, Hamish! I am sure Invercauld was a true Highland gentleman - he sounds a lot like my own Chief, Cluny!
Cheers,

Thanks Rex. I wasn't aware of this, as I do not claim to know much in regards to Invercauld and the Clan Farquharson - besides the fact they are obviously one of the more prominent clans amongst the great Clan Chattan Confederation.

I don't think there is anything necessarily 'startling' about that. I have worn Highland day attire in this way many times simply because I do not wear a belt (any longer) of any sort with the kilt - day or evening. And sometimes, it may be entirely too hot for a waistcoat.

What is the story behind this please (if suitable here)? 40,000 acres is a lot.
