My wife and I had a great time at the Long's Peak/Estes Park Scottish and Irish Festival. Good music and good food. Great venue and chance to meet some really nice people.

Besides the meeting with X Marks colleagues, I had a great opportunity to meet with some of the Clan Hay, American Branch folks at the Hay tent.

Here are some pics from that time.

We gathered here after the parade of Clans on Saturday.
From Left to Right: Rod Village, Clan Hay, American Branch President; Ron Capistrano, Convener for Colrado and Wyoming; Larry Hay, American Branch Treasurer, Rick Hayle, Convener for Texas, Tom Hay Bauer, Convener for Illinois and Wisconsin, and myself. I felt like I was in exhaulted company! Fine gentlemen all.

Here is Rod and myself by pictures of Delgatie Castle, seat of Clan Hay in Scotland. Rod is a Trustee for the castle and will be going over there later to do some work at the site.

Here I am in my X Marks the Scot Kilt from Steve Ashton's shop. It is a fine kilt and fits very well. I wore it Friday and Sunday and wore my Hay Ancient kilt on Saturday. Over my right shoulder is Long's Peak. Now listed as 14, 255 feet above sea level. After my freshman year in college I worked at the YMCA camp near Estes Park and managed to climb the peak on one of my days off. I'm afraid those days are long past.

Hope to see these games again in the future.

    Best regards,

    Tom

The setting is beautiful. I knew that, but this is a good reminder. I am seriously impressed by how much the local community gets into the whole thing. The parade is fantastic!!!

Really glad that Tyler and family got to meet Brooke and Connie. Now I have to find Brooke and corner the poor man and under durress, demand to know if all the LitTrog stories are, indeed, TRUE.

Regarding the re-assignment of a bunch of the photos which portray military units at the Games... That's insane. Gentlemen, I understand there are rules, but please use some common sense.
My my Mr H., aren't you the observant one!! The new skirt was a very nice vintage (in American English that means anything before 1970! ) ebay find in MacMillan Old Modern. Quite fetching if I do say so myself.

At first, I too was happy about the opportunity to get to meet Tyler, but as often happens, reality was far less wonderful than the expectation. His wife on the other hand, is a remarkable, though clearly love blind, woman. Although I suspect that all of the stories involving animals are indeed true, those espousing his great intellect and wit are much exaggerated. In fact, if his poor wife hadn't had her hand up the back of his shirt I swear the old fool would have fallen right over into his soup...and that was before his evening oxycontin snorting began. A shame really, she is such a lovely lady. We felt terrible for her and the child.

In spite of the questionable character of our host, I would highly recommend this event to anyone who can attend!

It was free-range chicken, wrapped in applewood bacon, smothered in brie. It wasn't soup. Geez.

Got no problem with the rest of it.

I suspect the lass was attracted to his admittedly spectacular socks.

Mssr. LitTrog, you witnessed perhaps the "biggest" overall throwing day of the year, there at Estes park. Dan McKim set a new heavy hammer American record, and Matt Vincent broke the 30+ year old world record in the Open Stone...only to find out two days later that the stone is 1/10th of a pound light. Arrrgh. Still and all....and then, Sean goes 18 feet in WOB. Dan McKim and Mike Pockoski both went 147+ in light hammer. HUGE throws, all of them.

Great photos! Although I missed it this year, I've been to the Long's Peak HG four non-consecutive years. It's a truly wonderful weekend! In 2014, the Clan MacIntyre Association will have its AGM there.
