    Like Button on XMarks ?

    Yes

    No

There should be no need for the added text with the yes or no questions . The additional text sways the response .
I'm not a pollster, just a guy who wants a like button, so there's no hiding my bias. Polls can't be changed once they are set up. If it really bothers you, then feel free to start a new poll with different wording. I, however, trust that The Rabble is sufficiently capable of critical thinking and free will as to be able to remain unswayed by the semantics of the question.

I think being able to hit a like button for a particular post is great, like a pat on the back of simply a "nicely done" versus a comment on the whole thread. I don't see this place being anything like facebook because, for the most part, we're adults and facebook, IMO, is a lowest denominator comparison. Anyone could still post ***, +2, +3, etc as they wish. A cascade of plusses can often be great commentary itself. I just don't think X-Marks will be diminished by a like button. The Rabble is pretty good at communicating, a button is just a tool. Think smiley without the bump.

I do like the idea of implementing this, though.
Sorry to be "picking nits" here OB but its one of my pet peeves. It's used to and not use to.

I voted yes because, at first blush, there is an obvious appeal to an automated ***.

However, after following the comments, the case for a like button is not as obvious.

I would prefer not to have a "like" button. I would also prefer not to have "***'s" but that horse has left the stable! My view is simply to say something worthwhile or not at all. A bit old fashioned perhaps and I don't expect anyone to agree but since you asked I'm grateful that you allow me to express the view.

Well actually on reflection, I do agree with you. A comment from any point of view does add to a discusion and can, as in my case here, alter a point of view.
