I love my German style beers. Cannot stand most IPAs.
Go to the local beer fest every year. We have a local brewery that is outstanding and make an award winning (three years in a row) beer called Dirty Hippy. It is a medium dark ale that has a top of nut with a smooth finish at the back.

Outside of my homebrew I would have to say Shiner (Texas) Wild Hare and Dog Fish Head 60 minute IPA (Delaware). There are many more from local craft brewers but these always work.

Don't know if you could that one, but you might find another locally made. Jumbo shrimp, he he he.... Life is full of those contradictions...
But that is another thread all to itself...

I thank the lord that I live in britain, beers for every taste, a blessing I say . Its the one thing I miss on holidays is British beer and proper mug of tea Lol , so easily pleased, from doom bar , brains S.A. , to Archie Hamiltons 80 shilling, I love em !!!!

Right now my favorites are Gaelic Ale from Highland Brewing co. in Asheville,NC , Sweetwater 420, Laughing Skull from Red Brick.

Not at all. There are many fine light-colored ales. Ales are top-fermented, dark brews usually use dark-toasted malt. Two entirely different factors.
