Intersting... Does she also worry equally about the ladies doing the same thing.

After a quick tally of the responses so far, it would seem that the ladies in our lifes are more or less split down the middle as far as their feelings towards kilts are concerned. My wife's biggest concern of all was with regards to what others might think or say. But she quite appreciates the "social effects" from it.ie. highland games, dinners, etc. She also said that she was quite used to it now and didn't expect her opinions to diminish my kilt habits. That would be like taking candy away from a baby, now wouldn't it!

I understand... I get double standard comments here too.

Sitting proper is hitting the chair with yer butt instead of missing and hitting the floor. What's the big deal?

I didn't have any trouble "sitting proper" this past weekend. However, I apparently had a problem crouching down to take a picture of my wife and daughter. Unbeknownst to me I flashed the two of them. My wife mentioned it to me later. My daughter said nothing. Luckily I don't go commando in my kilt.

Graham...very good. You're quite right on "Tar Agus Glac Iad". It's tattooed under a harp on my arm...now, for the bonus points, I have "Bona na Conoin" tattooed over the harp...that would be...???

All right! Emily's another winner. Fine choice of a spouse.
Graham....it's Gaelic for "neither collar nor crown"
