Dale Seago , How is your maple leaf pleated? It looks like it's pleated to the stripe.

It's not precisely "to the sett", but it gives that impression when you look at it.

I remember thinking how cool that photo was the first time I saw it. Later I remembered it was a member of the Clan Claus but couldn't remember which one. I should add part of the coolness for me comes from being born in Niagara Falls Ontario and seeing Santa wearing the Maple Leaf kilt in my home town.

Oh, and here's a shot from last night of my Pendleton wool shirt in Maple Leaf, though that's not me wearing it (!). I've had a house guest from out of town over the weekend who's here for some professional development training in San Francisco.

I've long admired that tartan and my paternal grandfather was born in Canada. If I were interested in another kilt, that would be the one.

Earlier in this thread are 2 photos of me with the American Falls in the background when I was in Niagara Falls, Ontario the day before I was at the Niagara Celtic Festival with Clan Claus in Olcott Beach, NY. So perhaps I was the Clan Claus member you saw in the Maple Leaf Tartan.

Why is there such a difference between the Maple leaf-lochcarron and Maple leaf-Batley? Is there one official Maple leaf tartan?

The differences would most like be due to dyes. The sett would be the same regardless of who is weaving it, however the dyes that are used by the different weaving houses can often vary in hue. When the sett is layed out it would be noted as so many yarns of red, so many of brown etc. But the exact colour variant of red, or brown etc. are not specified.
Here are pics of the Maple Leaf done in P/V in a 4 yard box pleat to the sett
