Left handed?! What has that got to do with it?!

Actually Richard you are missing a point.
The Prince Charlie isn't gone. That is what is so very wonderful about your post even though it is meant as a criticism of the way people wear highland dress today.
The PC It is still around!
It may be worn differently than it was 75 years ago, but it is still a part of current fashion. How marvelous is that?
Over my years on XMTS I have seen all manner of disgust for the ways highland attire is being presented and worn nowadays. All of which miss the big picture that it is truly wonderful that highland dress is still thriving. I love wearing traditional highland dress and those images in the old catalogue are wonderful. However if you froze highland dress to exactly what it was 75 years ago and didn't allow it to change with the times you would condemn traditional highland dress to becoming….
... a traditional national costume!
Times change and one of the wonderful things about highland attire is that fashion-wise it can look both forward and back and still be in style.
That is pretty cool indeed!
Cheers
Jamie
PS: For the record, while the young model's outfit might not be to my exact taste he still looks sharp to me. Should I see someone dressed like that at a formal function I would compliment him on his outfit.

LOL smart alec. lol. I was just bringing to a point that there is NO correct side for the blade. Outside of regimental regulations which I am unfamiliar with. Honestly....I wind up having a bottle opener or my smoking pipe in my hose. Right side, why...because I'm right handed....where as a good friend of mine puts his blade in his left because he's a southpaw. But back to the original issue....there are things about the picture in the OP that are more important to address (IMHO) than what side the blade is on.

Of note, the catalog illustration appears to show a jabot worn with the pc. I've heard it suggested that this wasn't proper. Perhaps Sir Sean has been doing it right after all.

That's how I buy cars!
But I am very bad at cars. I am willing to spend extra on them because I can't be troubled to educate myself as a consumer.
To steal from Panache's point, the existence of the kilt hire business demonstrates strength in the market. We, as kilt consumers, have a lot of choices. We can get cheaply made stuff from Pakistan, or well crafted stuff. Or stuff in the middle.

BTW is it incorrect to wear tartan flashes with a PC (or a black argyle jacket) if so why and what would you advise?

MacThomas,
The style of jacket has nothing to do with what kind of flashes one might wear. I don't personally care for tartan flashes, but it seems to be a matter of preference.

I'm pretty sure my wife will fight anyone who even suggests Mr. Connery is doing anything wrong...She still gets all gooey eyed remembering the time he bought a newspaper from her when she worked at the airport.
