Seriously? You guys are ripping on the poor woman's jacket?

    Then calling her tartan "yuck?"

In a thread from about a month ago I recall a number of you very same chaps saying that that sort of thing just isn't done.

Well, I never "ripped" on the tartan to begin with, Bren. And Calgacus was making a joke at the whole jacket bit. Nothing to take too seriously. I thought it was quite funny, actually.

That may be, Kyle, but I still think that it was in poor taste.

Oh, well. No biggie, no sleep lost.

Sorry if I seemed a bit harsh.

I was just replying on the comments, did not say the tartan was yuck and I didn't rip on the woman jacket.
If I did type something bad about her tartan my bag and sorry.

Yes. I'd heard that all the boys were marched outside where they were lead in a 24hr marathon recitation of 'Kilts are for girls, kilts are for girls!'

Come on guys, why not keep your remarks civil? And do your homework. It took less than 15 seconds to find the explanation of how the design colours were found:

I know that not all tartans will be everyone's cup of tea, but to insult the designer on both a personal and artistic level and the children who lent a hand in the project is really not very gentleman-like behaviour.

Dixiecat, you are right, it's not gentleman-like behaviour to insult people for what they do with good intentions.

I was rather surprised when I saw the new tartan. That might have something to do with the fact, that we are on a(the) "Kilt forum" and expect a new district tartan to appeal to us as kiltwearers.

The fact that they sell the tartan as scarfs and by the metre as:
tells me, that even they think that the tartan has a more "feminin" look about it.
Anyway, I would at least expect to see a tie for the gentleman from Aberdeenshire.

Do I like the tartan? Not really, I think you could design something more pleasing to my eyes with the same colours.
On the other hand, after looking at Donna Wilson's website, I'm not surprised about the result, it is in line with the rest of her work. So they got what they asked for.

The Arizona tartan was mentioned. I can see some similarities. For some reason it reminds me of the Princess Diana Memorial Tartan, too.

Dixiecat, I had no intention of insulting anyone, just expressing the probability of the project being female driven, in response to someone else's comment regarding the tartan being feminine. I do not have a problem with that nor did I express any opinion regarding the tartan other than that. I would never criticise anyone creating a tartan or their choice of tartan. As far as I am concerned anyone wearing tartan in a way that suits them or creating a new tartan is good news.

Thank you for the link, it is interesting where the colours came from. How you mix them is very much up to the designer.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
