35C around here today and this is what I wore to the Scottish Festival. I should probably note that our humidity is usually pretty low, which makes the heat more bearable. It generally doesn't bother me until it's at least 40C+ (my wife, on the other hand...)
I did make two concessions to the sun/heat; I usually wear a cowboy hat, and since I ran in the Scottish Sprint 5K earlier in the day I stuck with the running shoes.

I know what it's like to be overdressed in the heat. I used to do Viking reenactment, wearing chainmail etc and fighting in mid summer temperatures. I haven't had such a sweat problem here with the kilt though, but then I'm not wearing all the regalia you do.

The hat looks fine and even the shoes don't really stand out too much.

That's only because you can't see the neon green and silver accents on the sides. They're definitely not 'matchy-matchy' with the rest of the outfit.

I'll stick to the 5 yard kilts, unless it's a synthetic material, they are lighter and cooler.

My hiking kilt from sportkilt is great for hiking trails in the heat or for wearing around the house. Around the house I wear it with sandals, no socks. For hiking I dress like the picture below, but I wouldn't ever wear it anywhere else. The material is so light that it loses the look of a true kilt.

Sounds like a blast, did you take any photos worth posting?

Temp today is 32c. You bring up a good point about heat stroke though, I had a mild case of it once and it isn't much fun.

Thanks for your input, I enjoyed reading it. With me I guess it's an age thing, I doubt I'd be bothered if I were younger, after all I did wear flares and platform shoes in the 70's!
I basically agree with James on all his points. Kilts with sandals, in my opinion, looks good if you've got the legs (specifically, the calf muscles) for it.
