I have 5 of them and 4 of them are shortened 3 inches. I like then couple inches above knees. (im 6-4) and I wear them at the hips like normal pants.

Frustrations and pleasures
Back earlier this summer I posted about unsuccessfully trying to order a 5.11 kilt from outside the US. On 17 July I did finally get a reply (to a query sent in May), which did acknowledge that they do not accept orders from outside the US, but didn't help to solve the frustration.
Having however in the meantime successfully ordered a 5.11. kilt from a supplier within the UK, and sorted out the sizing issue, I have now been able to order a second TDK kilt from them, in a plain grey - just as comfortable, and a nice expansion to my colour range, which otherwise consists of black, brown, khaki and olive.
These kilts are comfortable to wear, especially in warmer weather, and well pocketed. I notice that when I switch from a 5.11 to most of my other kilts, I miss the hip pockets - In fact have been wondering about trying to get hip pockets retrofitted to an Elkommando hiking kilt, if I can track down suitable fabric. (I've already had proper belt loops added, since for some obscure reason Elkommando give you only one (1) beltloop, on the left hip).

After 4 years and purchasing as many 5.11 kilts, initial reaction remains the same; these are great non-tartan solid colour (or multicam) cheap, warm / moderate weather, knocking-around kilts.
Lack of a bum pocket here is no issue either as "moody" back and not tempting pickpockets do not place wallet there, anyway.
As 5.11 is a "Tactical gear" company, one removable pocket is divided into two, vertically and the other into three, compartments. Early info on their site said this was for ease of carrying two AR- and 3 pistol magazines, therefore the ability to switch sides.
In this application, the wallet, notebook, etc. ride in cargo pockets and the high vertical slash ones usually are reserved only for when hands are inserted therein.
