Here is a good example of media misrepresentation. The poor bastard made a mistake and the media decided that it would fabricate a story to sell a few more papers.

I don't think Colonel Simon West was trying to to disgrace his company or his counrty. He was probably excited because:
1. He gotta sit next to the Queen
2. He got Home and hopefully for the Holidays
3. He didn't have to wear pants.
I just don't see a Colonel would pull a stunt like that.

Puir Old Scotland...
I don't see the serious harm.
Scotland has suffered for so many years under the British crown as second class subjects, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing under similar circumstances.
Americans tend to make more out of the whole "Scottish v. English" rivalry than the Scots do. Scotland has had it's problems from Wesminster, but consider how influencial Scots have been in the military, business & finance, the arts, literature, etc.
Now, I'm not saying that everything has been hunky-dory for the Scots -- it hasn't. But one must take into account what the Scots have done, and what they have achieved -- read "How the Scots Invented the Modern World" or "The Scottish Empire" for Scottish history, and leave "Braveheart" in the fiction world.
Cheers,
T.

The guy is grinning no more, no less than anyone else in the photo. His posture is no different. His aprons are just a little more taut, that's all. If there's disrespect for the uniform or the crown here, it doesn't look deliberate.

Sheesh! One picture of Hank, Jimmy, and Graham as ballerinas, and you're labeled for life!
Seriously, you do have to wonder why the photographer NEVER mentioned anything until after the pic was taken.
